Luis Eduardo Panisset Travassos: O Abismo Šemonovo (Šemonovo brezno) e seu uso no periodo pos-guerra | The Šemonovo shaft (Šemonovo brezno) and its use in the post-war period
In several world regions caves played a dual role in History. They were, in many cases. places of shelter or refuge for the persecuted. However, in sonic moments, the same shelters or even other places have become the graves of their refugees. Especially in the Balkans, a region rich in carbonatic caves, the military uses of such spaces are widespread. The data presented in this work were based on the Cave Registry of the Institute Karst Research Institute of Slovenia and the author's own observations who checked information in different oral and written sources. Thus, this paper provides a brief record of one of the many shafts used as sites for mass killings in wartime (1941- 1945), and after this period.
